Strong Representation of Intercollegiate Players to Become
Ambassadors for the Sport

The U.S. Polo Association, the national governing body for the sport of polo, is pleased to announce the selection of eight new players to Team USPA. The organization established the development program in 2010 to grow and sustain the sport of polo by identifying talented young American players and providing opportunities to grow their abilities.

The USPA Intercollegiate program once again became a major factor in selecting Team USPA with six of the eight members currently playing for collegiate teams. Since Team USPA’s inception, intercollegiate players have made up 75% of the team each year representing college and university polo programs around the country and internationally.

The new Team USPA players, who bring the team’s roster to 39, will attend specialized clinics and receive training and competition opportunities that aim to develop them to their fullest.  As part of this training, players will learn from and compete alongside current high-goal stars such as Julio Arellano, Tommy Biddle, Jr., Jeff Blake, Kris Kampsen, Luis Escobar, Sunny Hale, Hector Galindo, Adam Snow, Owen Rinehart and Jeff Hall.

The eight new Team USPA members include:

Matt Baker – Des Moines, IA

Sterling Giannico – Wellington, FL

Zach Grob – Sherman, CT

Tiamo Hudspeth – La Conner, WA

Stephanie Massey – College Station, TX

Lucas Reid – Moscow, ID

Kareem Rosser – Dryden, NY

Todd Thurston – Manakin Sabot, VA

“We are extremely excited to add eight new players to Team USPA who have shown considerable talent and a great devotion to the sport of polo,” said Kris Bowman, Director of Team USPA.  “Their passion and commitment will be a huge asset for the program as we look to expand the sport and increase the level of play for U.S. polo.”

Team USPA continues to be instrumental in encouraging USPA programs and events that will recruit, train and develop American players and teams to the fullest measure of excellence. This includes advancing young players to compete in international events on behalf of the U.S., participation in national and circuit USPA tournaments and working to improve the level of play for competitors at every level of experience.
