A win over the visiting American side in the fourth International Arena Polo Test Match played at Hickstead’s All England Polo Club yesterday, Saturday 3rd March, ensured the Bryan Morrison Trophy remained firmly on British shores. Team England captained by Europe’s highest handicapped arena polo player, Chris Hyde, defeated Team USA 12-9.
The USA’s John Gobin took home the accolade of the Most Valuable Player and the Best Playing Pony award went to Caledonia, owned by Hickstead member Caio Sorzana and played by America’s John Gobin.
In the first match of the day Cold Smoke took on Team Hickstead in a High Goal Challenge Match, securing a closely fought 12-11 triumph. Michael Bickford of Cold Smoke unfortunately suffered a broken collarbone in the latter stage of the game and had to be substituted by Jake Gordon, however he received the award of the Most Valuable Player for his tremendous play until then. ”
