The Polo Report
By Steve Crowder

I have heard from several people that the infection is under control and Sapo is recovering. An email from a man named Luis A. F. Wetzler JD was definitely appreciated on the latest news. Thank you very much Luis for sending the update. Good luck Sapo. Just treat it like a polo ball and hit it out of there.

Out west where little good news has been around, The Colorado Cowgirl, Jenny Lutrell, just blew by the Antelope in the finals of the 12-goal in Santa Barbara’s opening tournament. It is the first of 5, 12 goal tournaments this season, which goes to the end of June .

New General Manager at Santa Barbara Polo Club,  BOB PUETZ, faces some tough times as he is inheriting a Polo Program which is in a bit of a lurch to say the least. Three years ago we had a rough time in 12 Goal, but high-goal or 20 goal was full with 8 teams. Now we are down to 4 and looking a bit like a skeleton crew for the big ones. I am sure Bob will turn it around. It just is so sad it got this thin in the first place.

Santa Barbara, or actually Carpinteria, weather wise has to be one if not the best places to be on the planet during the month of August. Even if your not here for Polo there are many things to do in the area.

Losing Teams like Audi, Piocho, Piaget and U.S. Open Champs Zacara are just very hard to accept for people coming here to watch Polo. Hopefully some of the unhappy Patrons will give Bob a chance to show what he can do. We shall see, but the clock is ticking.

see ya
