BLOOMFIELD TAKES THIRD IN PRESIDENT’S; CHAMPIONSHIP POSTPONED
While the rain washed out the championship match of the US Polo Association President’s Cup in the evening, the consolation game went off without a hitch earlier Friday at Saratoga Polo. Bloomfield came away the victors of the contest for third, beating out SaraBoca with a final score of 10-7.
Penalty shots decided the outcome of the match as Cuko Escapite, the day’s leading scorer, converted on 4 attempts for his team’s total scoring in the first. Escapite also scored twice during regular play in the second half to finish out with 6. Peter Lusardi and Will Orthwein each had 2 tallies to put Bloomfield over the top.
SaraBoca was lead offensively by Ricky Bostwick with 3 goals and Diego Ferreira with 2.
Gene’s Cleaning/Dos Perros will face off against Buckleigh Farm in the final for the USPA President’s Cup, tentatively rescheduled for Saturday, July 29th (weather and field conditions permitting). The Ylvisaker Cup is scheduled to begin on Sunday, July 30th at 5:30 pm at Saratoga Polo. For more information, call 518-584-8108 or visit saratogapolo.com.
