The Polo Report

… of the Pacific Coast Circuit USPA Inter Circuit Cup.  It is the final tournament and the big one of the season.

It  a very good game. Cotterrel’s opponent was Mansour, led by Big Ben Soleimani, but his carpets did not fly long enough. Mansour led the whole game, sometimes by as many as 4 goals, but it does not count until the fat Lady sings and she did.  With 42 seconds to go on the clock, Diego Cosica tied it up with a big penalty 4 with a minute and a bunch left.  It was Luis Saracco getting the big one with a smooth run down the end line to paint the board in his team’s favor for the first time all day .  The rest is history and Cotterel Farms are the 2012 USPA INTER CIRCUIT CHAMPS.

It has been a heck of a year for Colorado teams. So Far Jenny picked up a couple titles this winter and Bob J. and his Valiente teams smoked them in FL for the first 2 high goals and they both are based out of the Denver area. It is a Rocky Mountain high.

Today’s game started out with Mansour doing a major push and controlling the game thru the first two chukkers on penalty shots mainly and their handicap goal which were enough to put them up by 3 or 4.  It was in the third chukker when Luis began to cause havoc with big runs following up on some great carries by Jenny to notch it up.  Luis had a big chance to close the gap at end of third and missed, but it was a positive step to go into 1/2 time with a bit of momentum. The 4 th looked bad for Cotterel as they missed some big opportunities to get closer, but could not connect and finished down by 3. The 5 th started out fast and it was Jenny taking a pass and stuffing it in for a gap closer and she sparked the recovery.  Mansour never could really pull away after that and the 6th was one chukkar too many as the door shut and the rest is in the history books.

It was a great and enjoyable day and the weather has been smashing since the first day of Summer. We have seen no FOG. The Sun has set on the 2012 12-goal tournaments and it was a decent season. So thanks to all and especially to Jenny and her crew. They are without a doubt the biggest supporters of California Polo right now.  She supports teams both @ Santa Barbara and Indio and we all need to thank her for that as we are extremely GRATEFUL to have her.

In the UK it is getting tough as tomorrow starts the elimination. You need to win to be in and if not, you will not be in the Quarters. I am sure San Diego was smoking today, but have no reports. SB will be dark next week, so take a trip to party town you will enjoy it.  I Guarantee.  If not, there are a lot of good games in the UK everday next week.

Congratulations
