July 25th '08: Its all about 1, on day one @ Santa Barbara PC (California)

The high-goal is underway at Santa Barbara Polo Club and there are many new faces from many places. It was good, close Polo from the beginning. At 10 am ERG and patron Scott Woods took on former teammate Andy Busch and his Green machine of Grant’s Farm. Grant’s Farm has two new faces Cachi Garcia, a young gun from Florida and the highest-rated player from Canada, Little Mac (Frederick Mannix, Jr.). Frederick is a “Big” Mac now! Grant’s Farm was able to get the golden goal from Jeff Hall, who has done it before. Tt was a big start for Andy Busch, who has 10 months on the ranch. Grant’s Farm goes to 1 and 0 in Bracket B and take the day off on Sunday.

Game 1 of Bracket A got off to a fast start for Long Beach as they seemed in control with quick, decisive plays. Young Gonzalo Pieres, who is now 10 goals in Europe as well as Argentina, was just waiting. He got up to speed late to send Audi past Long Beach with the clock ticking down. It was a big one to get started as they also beat 2008 MVP Jeff Blake in the process. Audi is now 1 and 0. In the final game of the day it was a brand new face in Boss Man John Muse and his Luchesse team. They took on TJ Barrack, while Pop watched from the side. Brother Carlos Gracida gave Memo a birthday present by missing his final goal shot to send the game into overtime. Happy Birthday to Memo! Welcome new faces to the Gold Coast of Polo. There is action all day Sunday and the games are 10 am, 1 pm and 3 pm. All are 20-goal games, so come on out as San Diego is in the dark for another week. Bring your party to Santa Barbara.
