The Polo Report
By Steve Crowder
You can put your name on the shirt of a U.S. Gold Cup and U.S. Open team and be a part of an exciting opportunity. You don’t need to buy a horse or at least not a expensive one. Let us know if you want your Business or website in the bright lights. I doubt you’ll get as much attention as Danica’s Go Daddy patch, but you will be on the silver screen. Many of the 2013 26-Goal Polo games are expected to be on this year. If interested in a Pacth on a U.S. OPEN team contact us 805-896-4406.
It all starts today as two very good teams take the pitch in Palm Beach. Zacara, the defending Open Champs, take on Valiente, the defending Gold Cup Champs. Zacara has the same team as last year. Valiente is part of both teams from last year. Pop took young Robert’s big sticks Pelon and Adolfo Cambiaso, who would probably have been the Champs straight through, but Cambiaso was injured during the Gold Cup and left with 1/2 a wing. He is back, so the unknown 6-goaler, most likely Santi Torres, but you never know. Cambiaso does have an eye for talent, but the story is that Young Alfredo was “monstered” from 6 to 8 so I guess he was. Alfredo spent a lot of time here in the desert with Uncle Hugo Barabucci before heading South, but then so did Valiente the Denver dymo of BOB J.I believe there are 9 teams in the C.V. Whitney Tournament this year, which will be single elimination as usual.
The Ylvisaker continues Wednesday with just four teams left. Audi knocked off Villa Lago and takes on Lucchese in the semis, who took out defending champs Piaget take on Sunday. On the other side it was Coca Cola knocking out Zacara and they look forward to dealing with the high-flying owls of Victor Vargas of Lechuza Polo Team. This all this happens Wednesday and the weather is supposed to be a little more pleasant than last Sunday. It was obviously a Mother Nature day as a woman won the Pole at Daytona for the first time ever.
Out West things are very nice with no cold weather. In the desert the Bermuda is growing and we just need more Polo players so come on out . March is prime time to be here and bigger than ever this year as the FACE of POLO Nacho is coming to town for a huge event on March 23 so put it on your calendar .
