BROWN CUP, USPA PRESIDENTS CUP FINAL END IN DRAW

After a lengthy bout of rainouts, competition returned to Saratoga Polo with gusto on Friday evening. El Vanado and Buckleigh Farms battled for the Brown Family Cup in a match that also served as the final to the USPA Regional President’s Cup Final. The teams battled to an 8-8 tie.

The match was hard-fought, notable for very physical play. It went into a seventh, sudden-death overtime chukker and was eventually called on account of darkness. El Venado will advance to USPA National President’s Cup at The International Polo Club in Wellington, Florida as part of a gentlemen’s agreement between the two teams.

El Venado’s Charly Cendoya was named the UBS MVP and Buckleigh’s Luis Galvan had a horse named Saratoga Saddlery Best Playing Pony. Buckleigh’s Pablo Crespin led all scorers with 5 goals.

The next match at Saratoga Polo is The Gurka’s Origianl Bar Rooms Cup on Sunday, August 22nd at 5:30pm. For more information about Saratoga Polo, call (518) 584-8108 or visit saratogapolo.com.
