Special Event to Raise Money for Warrior and Family Support Center
WHAT: Texas Military Polo Club and San Antonio Polo Club are inviting area residents to the inaugural Teddy Roosevelt Inter-Service Polo Match this Sunday, May 5, in Bulverde, Texas. Proceeds from the event will go to support the Warrior and Family Support Center (WFSC) at Fort Sam Houston, where one of the three main military hospital complexes supporting wounded warriors is located. WFSC provides coordinated services to patients, next-of-kin and extended family members with a primary focus on Wounded Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom Warriors.
The special event will feature two exciting polo matches, starting at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. CDT, which will showcase the longstanding relationship between the military and sport of polo. In addition to some great polo action on the field, there will also be a silent auction held and a number of additional fun activities for fans and attendees to enjoy.
The First Annual Teddy Roosevelt Inter-Service Polo Match is sanctioned by the U.S. Polo Association (USPA), the sport’s national governing body, and being in held in conjunction with the organization’s efforts to endorse military polo and raise funds for military charities. The USPA’s Armed Forces Polo Committee, in recognition of the great history and connection between the sport of polo and our Armed Forces, is working to expand opportunities and events to perpetuate the tie between the armed forces and polo communities.
