Some key handicap changes were made to high profile players who are regulars at Florida’s International Polo Club. Those handicap changes include Sapo Caset’s handicap being lowered from 10-goals to 9-goals, and Pite Merlos having his 9-goal handicap lowered to 8-goals. Brazil’s Rodrigo Andrade saw his handicap elevated from 8-goals to 9-goals following his part in Zacara’s sweep of the English high goal season. An impressive showing by Nico Pieres saw his handicap elevated from 7-goals to 8-goals.
Andrade was a member of Marc Ganzi’s Audi team that won the 2011 Gold Cup and made it to the finals of the 2011 US Open Championship. After a season with Orchard Hill, Andrade will be returning to Audi for the 2014 season.
Caset played with Piaget last season and after suffering a sidelining infection that left him in a medically induced coma, returned to the field only to see his handicap lowered from 10-goals to 9-goals in the United States as well. Caset is expected to join Bob Jornayvaz’s Valiente lineup that will include Adolfo Cambiaso and Santi Torres. Nico Pieres was a member of the 2013 Audi polo team and had already had his handicap elevated to 8-goals in the US.
