The Polo Report
By Steve Crowder
It was the finals of the USPA Silver Cup, which may be the last one in Santa Barbara, but it was a dandy. The last 7 and one half minutes were amazing. With 4 minutes and 31 seconds left in the 6th, ERG went up by 4 goals and the show looked like it is over. It was, however, just starting. It was kind of like the PGA finals. It is far from over with 4 minutes to go, but here in Santa Barbara it was not raining like it was in TN. A throw-in and boom, Lucchese scores with a goal by Sapo. With 4.13 left and another throw in with a bit of shifting, Sapo scores again. With 2.27 left on the clock. Jeff Hall scores. Another throw-in and John Muse falls off. With 2.27 left a foul shot with an open goal and Sapo scores. The score tied with 1.01 left. Safety called AM dribbles, Jeff Hall steals it 3 straight fouls called all 3 overturned with throw-ins 05 seconds and it goes to Overtime.
ERG wins throw-in, shoots at goal misses. Knock in turned back, but not for long. Lucchese steals it back and scores 5.54 left on clock . A huge comeback and a very exciting chukkar as I think 6 goals were scored in the 6th. Two by ERG before the Sapo Fest. I
n case you do not know Sapo is really Guillermo Casset, J.r and he is being well supported by Jeff Hall, Tom Collingwood and Patron John Muse. Lucchese wins 15 to 1 . Sapo wins MVP. So now all leads to Pacific Coast Open, which starts a week from Thursday here in SB. Come and see those boys run again, they will be a dandy to see who are the Summer Kings.
