BLOOMFIELD CLAIMS TALKING PHONE BOOK CUP
Saratoga’s Lance Vetter rallied late with a 3-0 run, but it wasn’t enough to overcome Bloomfield’s lead as they claimed the Talking Phone Book Cup at Saratoga Polo on Wednesday with a final score of 13-8.
Along with a pre-match lead due to handicap, Saratoga got out front early when Gene Gass was the first to put the ball between the goal posts in the first chukker. Tony Coppola and Will Orthwein responded for Bloomfield with a goal each in the first chukker, but Saratoga held their lead until Cuko Escapite opened up the middle of the match.
Escapite scored at least once in each chukker except for the first to finish with 10 goals on the day. Orthwein added a second score in the third to finish with 2.
Vetter led Saratoga with 4 goals. In addition to his 3 markers in the sixth chukker to close out the match, he had another in the fifth chukker to start Saratoga’s rally. Gass finished with 2 for the runners-up.
The next match at Saratoga Polo will be held on Friday, August 23rd at 5:30pm. For more information, call 518-584-8108 or visit saratogapolo.com.
