TACKERIA, BUCKLEIGH FARM ADVACE TO CHAMBER CUP FINAL
After being postponed due to weather, the Saratoga County Chamber of Commerce Cup got underway with a pair of semifinal matches at Saratoga Polo on Sunday.
In the earlier semi, Tackeria held off a late charge from Dos Perros to hang on to win with a final margin of 11-10.
Both teams relied on steady scoring form their backfield to carry them though the day. Tackeria’s Number 4, Jube Baez led all scorers with 8 markers and Dos Perros’ Number 4, Cuko Escapite followed him with 7 scores.
Tackeria’s opponent in the final will be Buckleigh Farm, who had a strong sixth chukker to break away from Estrella and capture the evening semi with a final score of 10-7.
After a tough first half with neither team building a large lead, Buckleigh kicked off the second with a scoring run that put them out in front by three. Estrella responded in the fifth, preventing Buckleigh from scoring while Diego Ferreira deposited 2 of his 4 and Ricky Bostwick scored 1 of his 2 to tie things up at 7-7.
Buckleigh’s feat in the sixth mirrored Estrella’s in the fifth: holding their opponents scoreless while Oliver Butterworth notched 2 of his 4 scores on the day and Luis Galvan scored 1 of his 5 to clinch a spot in the final. Peter Bibeau also had a tally for the winners of the evening match.
