SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The spectacular setting of the Saratoga Polo Association is the backdrop for four special parties on the Saturdays in August – all to benefit local charities.
The first “Party for a Cause” takes place starting at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 5, hosted by John Walsh of television’s America’s Most Wanted and benefits the Morrell Center for Childhood Cancer and Blood Disorders at the Children’s Hospital of Albany Medical Center. Performing with the band will be Jay Traynor, former lead singer with Jay & The Americans
“Everyone is welcome to join us for these fabulous parties for great causes,” said Saratoga Polo’s Managing Partner James Rossi, adding: “They’re a perfect way to top off a day at the races – helping non-profit organizations while kicking back at a casual, affordable, fun gathering with great music and fabulous food.”
Each “Party for a Cause” features the Saratoga Polo All-Star Party Band, led by Dr. Tim Olsen of Union College with some of the area’s finest musicians and special guest artists.. The parties begin at 7 p.m., rain or shine, in the tented areas overlooking historic Whitney Field on the Saratoga Polo grounds at Bloomfield and Denton Roads. Reservations are not required and the public is invited.
Admission tickets for each of the fundraisers are $25 per person and include entertainment, a complimentary specialty beverage, a ticket toward any food item and a donation to the evening’s designated charity. Saratoga Polo Party food stations include festival fare such as crispy vegetarian wood-fired pizza, sizzling steak fajitas and a nacho bar, roasted chicken, summer corn with pesto butter, grilled sausages and tasty burgers.
On Aug. 12, the party will benefit the YMCA of Saratoga, while on Aug. 19, party proceeds will go to Saratoga County Economic Opportunity Council. On Aug. 26, the Post-Travers party proceeds will assist the Capitol District Pop Warner Challenger Program, offering flag football and cheerleading to children ages 5-16 with special needs.
