It will be a match between the defending champs La Dolfina led by Superstar Adolfo Cambiaso and his 3 teammates from a year ago. The teammates include longtime teammate Bartolomé “Lolo” Castagnola 10, Mariano Aguerre 10 who is the oldest player on the field at 37. The youngest man on the field is 29 year-old Lucas Monteverde (h) 9 who is also probably the most improved player as well. The La Dolfina-Showmatch team team totals 133 years in age and has nearly 20 Ppen trophy’s between the players. They are only 1 goal short at 39 from being a perfect team at 40.
La Dolfina will face a band of brothers who were born to play polo. They have the toughest man alive in Eduardo Novillo Astrada (h) 9 at # 2 position. He also hold the U.S. Open and British Gold Cup Trophies from this year to date. This tournament is his win to win or lose, but he will be coming after this one as well. He has a baby brother that is on this team at the back position. There are others who are younger, but Negro is the youngest on the field at 28. They have the magic stick of Miguel at the 3 position and Javier running at the front end for La Aguada. The team’s age is nearly 10 years younger than La Dolfina. Will this help? As of yet, it has not. La Aguada lost to La Dolfina in the Hurlingham Open Final, but it is the finals of the Argentine Open and anything can and may happen. Three years ago, La Aguada did win this tournament and the other two tournaments to win the Triple Crown in Buenos Aires. There will be tears after the game for both teams. Some will be tears of happiness and some tears of unhappiness, but it will be the final day.
