March 16 Goal in Desert – The Barbara Sinatra Skins Polo Game
INDIO, CA (March 6, 2007) – When the temperature in the Desert rises, the anticipation of the $20,000 Barbara Sinatra Skins Polo Game increases as well and four teams will go after the money in this year’s 16 Goal tournament – the final being played on March 25.
With defending champion Mansour out, there will be a new champion, although Augustin Zavaleta and Federico von Wernich could win back to back championships as they were members of Ben Soleimani’s foursome in 2006. Zavaleta and von Wernich will play this year with Hanalei Bay, joined by Ron Bonaguidi along with Robertito Zedda.
The team favored at the moment to grab the money in 2007, Grant’s Farm Manor/Windsor Capital, will play with three members of last years runner-up, Windsor Capital. They are of course Pat Nesbitt who played in the final with Jason Crowder and Mariano Fassetta. Andy Busch completes the current favorite.
Tri Tech is back after a less than satisfying February and Chris Maloney will again play with Gaston von Wernich and Mariano Gutierrez. In a move to step things up, Marcos Villanueva has been added to the line-up.
Rounding things out is a new look Long Beach with Matthew Walker returning from a tough February bringing back Mariano Uranga. Additions include Hugo Barabucci and Henry Randazzo who is making his first foray into 16 Goal polo.
With the Skins Tournament not starting until March, 16, a warm-up single elimination competition will kick things off this Friday, March 9.
