The Polo Report
By Steve Crowder
How can that happen? In a horrible wreck from all accounts. It happened in the first two minutes of the first chukkar. Juan ((Nacho Badiola )) was injured and will be out for the rest of season here. I am sure, as he was unconscious for several minutes. Another player Guillermo Obergon was also injured slightly in the wreck. The wreck was a wreck and that happens, but the circus around it was unreal. They had Drones, Cameras, USPA Reps. and 5 officials, but for some reason they could not finish game or even sort out a ruling, which was a bit silly to almost anyone there.
To me the situation created a perfect mess. Now some teams could possibly have to play 4 games in 7 days totally against the horses involved health. Fortunately the Pros will not jeopardize their animals for a Cup and should not, but this is unfair to the Patrons too, who are paying them and all of this because of WHAT? They say the tempers of Lucchese were huge. I am sure they were mad, but they are not ISIS. That is what officials are for. If they start acting up set them out for a period or for the rest of the game. Now we know why we have so many red flags and # 1’s.
Game TWO did happen and it was the young guns of Alegria-Valiente showing their spirit and speed. They knew they needed a Win to head to the Semis. Klentner Ranch was thru with 2 W’s, so they are done. A/V 2-1 and KR 2-2, but with the first game fiasco, nobody is for sure out. FMB could win today and makeup game. They would be in if Lucchese has one win, so if they win today and FMB loses they would be in and FMB out. There would be no need for a makeup game, but it could be a 5-way tie if FMB wins today and wins the makeup game and if Lucchese wins today and loses the makeup game. So what do you expect? Come on out and have a look . Who will the WILCATS be?
Come to the 11 am and find out.
