Sept 4 06: The saddest day of the year . . . Labor Day. That’s what Why? Well it marks the end of summer holidays and school starts Tuesday. There are no more holidays until Nov. and that is when we all know the days start to get noticeably shorter. However, the Polo World was not sad this weekend or today. In San Diego the weather was perfect, the crowds big and lots of Polo from 10 am until sundown. It got off to a big win for Hidden Creek and a big loss for them as well. They drilled Princeps during the game, but lost their big stick to an injury as Danny Boy (Daniel Rowlands), with 3 seconds left in a game being won by 6 goals, went down and broke his collar bone. Hidden Creek moves to 2 and 0 without a 3-goaler. Princeps moves to 1 and 1. Ms. Figi and Gypsy lost a close one to TriTech to stay winless by a whisker twice. TriTech goes to 1 and 1 with a big one on Friday against Rancho Valencia. On the other side in the 6-goal it was Jenny Luttrel and her Cotterell Farms blowing by Aspen Oaks to also go to 2 and 0. Aspen Oaks is now 0 and 2. Rege White (Adeptus/CasaBlanca) hit the grass again with a big win over CNS Polo to go to 1 and 1. The Wolf man (Ashton Wolf) and Rege led Adeptus/CasaBlanca to a showdown with Princeps on Saturday. CNS goes to 0 and 2 and take on Hidden Creek next. In the first featured game of the day it was Kelly’s pink shirts and the Surfer (Diego Cossio) in new colors showing he can wear pink! Ohana went through Billy Boy (Hoyman) and his high-end Marcus + Millichap squad to put both at 1 and 1. In the final game of the day it was a bit odd, but very exciting at times. Lady Lisa Bosstick and her Madison Square Crew (MSQ) got out early over Rancho Valencia. Rancho Valencia came back in the 3rd and then it got exciting with 11 seconds on the board until the end of the 3rd. Chris Collins grabbed a throw in and smoked to the goal to put RV up by 1 at halftime. At the end of the 4th RV was up by 3 or 4, but here comes Fast-etta (Mariano Fassetta) and the Palomino (Jason Crowder) to tie it up in the 5th. Then a odd 6th chukker with lots of misses by Madison Square, but they still made it to 1 up with 40 seconds left on the Clock. Then with 9 seconds on the clock RV gets the ball on the boards and the Riceman (Shane Rice) fires a Hail Mary and as the clock struck 0 seconds the red flag indicated a goal and overtime. A miss by RV and a knock in by MSQ and down the field they come Nick (Nicolai Galindo) to Fast-etta to the Palomino back to Nick and its history as he buries it for the victory and its Party Time for Madison Square.
It starts all over on Friday with a big one as Rancho Valencia and Tritech challenge for a birth in the finals. On Satuday some key games will happen to pick the finalists for the 6-goal. It will be a fun filled weekend as parties are happening on Friday and Saturday to warm everybody up for the finals on Sunday. So put on your party face and come on down. Other really sad news . . . The Crocodile Man was killed yesterday by a Stingray and Andre Aggasi lost his last tennis game. See ya. The Polo Report by Steve Crowder.
