Indio, CA (December 15, 2008) – The first weekend of Mike Uretz’s World Gym Tournament has been completed at the Eldorado Polo Club. In a somewhat complicated but imaginative schedule utilizing a round-robin and straight game combination to accomodate the five team entry, Steven Saddler’s SMG Polo leads with a perfect record at 2 – 0.
Splitting second spot after Saturday and Sunday are Dina Stuart’s Carnation Farms and Empire with records of 1 – 1. Long Beach and World Gym have records of 0 – 2. World Gym could just as easily have two wins were it not for an overtime loss to SMG on Saturday and on Sunday one more goal against Saddler’s bunch in a round – robin would have given them the overall victory. Given little chance at the outset, Patrick and Tony Uretz have made things happen.
Play will resume next Saturday with the final of the World Gym Tournament on Sunday, December 21, 2008.
