As the Sun sets on SB season of Summer Polo some big ones this weekend. The finals of the 8 goal was Saturday and it was a good one as Wild Bill Lane and his Whitehall Ranch team out of Houston won it all in OT . Wild Bill is Bill Lane and he is actually a very calm person these days but about 25 years ago him and another Texan named H BEN Taubb both of Houston were not ever calm but they were so much fun wherever they were . Now Bill is very organized and has young Miguel Torres running a top flight org. and they won it all with a Midget named Piers Bossom he is not really a midget he is just 13 yrs old and short but he was tall in the finals and MVP as well . They beat a team called WHY Not with Hanna Zavaletta and Grant Palmer at the head of it all and they have won most of them but today was not there day. On to the PCO it was a weekend to survive and 3 did and 1 did not Friday brought out the next to last chance Friday was a big day as 2 big guns came through as RH beat Sol do Agosto and go to 3 and 1 and Klentner Ranch rode past FMB to go to 2 and 1 . RH was done with bracket play and were thru to the semis so it was down to Sunday and it was a dandy weather was awesome about 70 and a slight breeze and down to the final straw to make the semis it was game 1 with the defending Champs Farmers and Merchants taking on Lucchese both on the verge of elimination as loser probably goes home and it was very close all through the 1st half and score was 7 to 6 and in the 5th F & M were still in front and Luc. tied them and Lucas Criado was fouled on a hook and lost his mind but maybe really hurt as he did not finish game they were soon down by 2 with a 5 goal player Juan Monteverde replacing him but did well and got within 1 at the bell then they added another player at 5 goals and sat down 1 and that sub was not his day he made 2 open goal fouls and another one and Lucchese converted on all to win by 2 so that eliminated the 2017 PCO Champs then but it is not over there was a way they could still make it Not sure how but somehow . Game 2 was Klentner Ranch at 2 to 1 taking on the Naravez clan Francisco and Paco with a lot of help from Nico Escobar and slugged it out with KR and down 7 to 4 at in the start of the 5th held KR to 0 in the 5 th and 6 th and tied the game and sent it to OT and it was ended by a foul and Paco D sunk it for a berth to the semis . So it went to a shootout for seeding in the semis and turned out Paco was off and missed 2 penalties to send him back to RH and put KR versus Lucchese in the semis on Thursday so should be fun @ the SB POLO grounds .
