As the world turns in Polo
Polo is still here in the worst economy ever. And yes, we will survive the World, adjust to problems one way or another. Will polo prices go down? Yes. As demand drops so will hay prices, grooms pay and fuel. Clubs have to make ends meet as well, so they cut things like trophies, umpire fees are less, but incentives are better. So everyone can continue as best they can. It’s simple . . . you cannot park your horse in the garage and you sure cannot sell him or her, so you still pay for the basics. The one thing you can cut is the pro’s fees or play lower goal polo. That is what is happening 26-goal is dropping to 20-goal. Those who have played 2-goal are dropping to 14-goal and 12-goal is dropping to 8-goal, etc. It works for most people and this is where the clubs come in to make it work .
IPC is going much better as they reduced prices and made it happen with 6 to 9 teams in the 14 goal from 6 to 14 it works. In California at Eldorado, it will be a little late, but the new board at Eldorado sees the situation and they will fix it. We could have a great March and a week or so of April. Bad news for EDPC is Feb where it is normally a guarantee of two tournament games a week and maybe 6 now if your in the finals. Or 4 or 5? It’s just not the CA venue. It will change now because people on board are Polo People. March could be awesome. We can look for the return of Eldorado, we just need some fine tuning. It’s right there so you should be as well. There will be lots of POLO.
You know the world is controlled by a few I am sure we have some amazing things happen everyday and most of us get hit or caught, but class is also a lesson some just do not have to take. Think of events that have happened in the last couple of decades . . . Exxon kills millions of animals and ruins thousands of lives and they still have not been punished. Mike Vick fights a dog and goes to jail. Madoff robs 13 thousand people of billions of dollars, makes people die of hunger or kill themselves and lives in a luxury condo. Pete Rose is denied the hall of fame for gambling . The U.S. Govt. bails out AIG and the Banks and the taxpayers pay for it. The CEO’s get bonuses and many people now live on the street, M. Phelps, an American hero, is tarnished by a picture . I guess that’s justice in the USA!
Polo is raped in the desert and nobody has fun, yet we lose a season. It’s all about power.
WHEN IT COULD BE DO YOUR BEST AND BE HAPPY and remember Polo was the game of Kings and it’s still the King of games.
