It was a sad day when I heard Mr Gose had passed away and he did not like to be called Mr Gose he just said call me Steve please . Steve G was a man who did so many things for Polo and I think few see it because now we think it was normal , but in 1979 about 40 years ago most polo players were either not existing or in diapers Mr Gose did the unbelievable he built the first big Stadium for the US OPEN in a tiny place named Selma , Texas it was a start to American Polo smoking Boca Raton and John Oxley did the same and soon after Bill Ylvisacker followed with Palm Beach Polo the Polo World changed and it was because of him. Retama polo Club became the Face of Polo and the way it was done World Wide. It was HUGE in our World and he never said I did it he just Did it . He had nerve of a iron man and never backed off through bad times and good he just got it done and that was just the way it was him and Marty treated ever groom , grounds keeper as the same as the 10 goaler or the Governor. He will be missed but never forgotten. So long MR GOSE
In Polo today West Coast is 8 goal but fun and good Polo Ky is the high Goal right now in the U.S and if you go South well there really firing up for the big time. Somehow Polo continues to survive in Arg. as they go through some dramatic times, it just show if there is a way it can happen. This is the same thing US POLO needs to see we now have no American players above 6 goals and it is on us , how long will this last ? The USPA is guilty of all of it they see the sign the big Patrons make it that way BUT they found out last year MAYBE NOT when 26 went away nor more 4 or 5 teams but 22 14 or 16 teams well? Wake up ! It is going to go down again if Patrons cannot be part of the game will it last? It is simple if a person can afford to play Polo he can sure afford not to play , it is simple as that and that is the way it is . The USPA is making lots of money and helping the American Polo players ? NO NO NOT AT ALLLLLLLLLLL.
