Indio, CA (March 16, 2009) – With a 10 – 9 victory over Bolko Kissling’s Atlant, Bob Jornayvaz’s Valiente Polo Team won the Skins Warm-up Tournament at the Eldorado Polo Club on Sunday.
The win was a come from behind effort for the Colorado bunch as they trailed after the second, fourth , and fifth periods. Things changed in a hurry midway through the sixth however, as a two goal deficit (8 – 6 ) was erased in less than 15 seconds. Awarded a goal on a penalty number one call, the eventual winners got even on the ensuing throw-in and the game was tied.
Bouyed by the dramatic turn of events, Valiente scored two very quick goals and now led by a pair themselves at 10 – 8. The total time expended during the four goal outburst was little more than 90 seconds.
Atlant got one more on an open goal conversion with less than a minute to go but that was it and Jornayvaz and Company had the hardware.
Juan Britos led the winners with five goals, Mariano Fassetta, substituting for injured Santiago Botaro, converted three foul attempts (1 #4), and Robertito Zedda scored once.
Jason Crowder scored five times for Atlant and Danny Walker supplied four goals (3 fouls).
