n I believe the games played at 2 p.m. on Jan 19 , 2007 were played in the nastiest weather I have ever seen here in the desert. It was in the low 40’s with a wind chill of about 25 degrees. It was cloudy and spitting rain. It was more or less nasty all day. It just got worse as it went on. Even the Butter was frozen on this lovely Friday. Some of the games were hot however it started at noon instead of 10 a.m. as it was supposed to warm up. It just got colder and colder from about 60 at 6:30 am to about 40 something later in the day. And oh yes add a 15 mile per hour wind out of the north east and you have ugly. It was Big Ed and his Aspen Oaks and Casa Blanca having a real battle and it was 2 o’clock before they finished in over time. Casa Blanca made it through in 3rd place to the short go. It was a fired up Mc Polo jumping on La Mancha as Kyle Fargey is from the north like Saskacthewan or something like that. This was just a cool day for him blowing down the field often. It should have been Canada Day as it was truly Canadian winter weather, however, someone said it was warmer in Calgary than Indio and proably in Chicago as well. A couple of Canadian teams Calgary and Fish Creek 2 were at it on field 3 and  Calgary with the U boys and Steve Dorin got the win. We even had to have a sub for Gary Haydon as in flight from Phoenix on a private plane they hit the nice weather and Gary said he asked the pilot how are you with this and the pilot replied were turning back NOW. So it was just rain and ice and adios to Indio. Juan Jo (Gonzalez) did a good job of subbing, but it was not enough to stop Dandy Dan Horn’s undefeated string going as he and Henry Walker continue to roll. Young guns on the Phoenix team are starting to gel. Jesse N’s return to polo is going straight forward and the stripes seemed to not see quite a few fouls on this lovely day, but it was Palm Desert over Phoenix/Maui on this golden afternoon. About the only thing golden was the frozen fields. Dina Stuart and Carnation Farms got back on track as they took out the Ore Pac. In a big one on field 2 it was  PoloBARN keeping JHHE record on tap at 0 and something. Well Saturday promises to be better. HEY IT WAS 80 UP AND 70 DOWN IN WINTER WONDERLAND IN CAREYES, Mexico. See ya.
