Windsor Capitol's Juan Uranga winds up for a huge shot up to Pat Nesbitt

If you weren’t at the Santa Barbara Polo & Racquet Club this Sunday you missed out on gorgous weather and great polo.  We had an inter-club match at 10:30 versus California Polo Club.  The chukkers were fun and friendly and many of the players stuck around to watch the 1:00 and 3:00 games.  La Karina played Long Beach in the consolation match at 1:00.  The teams were well matched and the score was close the whole game.  At half time the score was tied 6-6 and both teams came back ready to battle.  Finally, Long Beach dug a little deeper and were able to pull off a 12-11 win.  After the game the Santa Barbara Woody Car Club displayed a few of their vintage cars in front of the grandstands.  They seemed to be a real hit with the crowd and we hope to have them back soon.  Bridlewood Winery was doing a wine tasting and the cabanas and VIP tent were packed with people for the 3:00 game: Windsor Capital vs. Piocho.  Jason Crowder seems to have recovered from a bad accident here a few weeks ago and is playing great.  He really took control of the game from the first chukker.  Pat Nesbitt had a great game and scored a few goals as well.  Piocho tied the score 4-4 in the 4th chukker but Windsor scored an impressive 5 goals after that to come out on top 9-6 going into the 6th chukker.  The final score was 12-9 Windsor.

Horses are beginning to arrive for the 20 goal season.  Last night 10 horses came in for Nico Pieres who is playing for Zacara this year.  Santi Trotz brought in 11 last week.  He will be replacing the injured Santiago Toccalino on Mansour.  Carlos and Gonzalo Avendano have 28 horses here getting prepared for the Mayor’s Cup which begins on July 9.  More horses are scheduled to arrive the first few days of July.
