2009 Comes To An Exciting End At Will Rogers

The Will Rogers Polo Club finished the 2009 season with three very exciting games, two of which were decided in overtime.
In the 4 goal flight of the Will Rogers Memorial Tournament, the Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf team of Domingo Questal, Bill Davis, Graydon Brittan and Bolko Kissling took on the Leed Properties team of Manny Questal, Lolo Payan, John Waybill and Wiley Uretz. Leed Properties lead most of the game, starting the final chukkar with a 3 goal lead. Domingo Questal tied the match with 14 second left and Bill Davis scored the game winning goal in overtime, for a final score of 12-11. For Coffee Bean, Bill Davis had 5 goals, Domingo and Bolko each had 3 goals and Graydon had 1 goal. For Leed Properties, Manny led his team with 7 goals, Lolo had 2 goals and Wiley had 2 goals. Bill Davis was the tournament MVP and Lolo Payan’s horse received best playing pony honors.
In the 2 goal flight, Malibu, Santa Monica and Beverly Hills competed in a round robin finals. When all games were played Malibu (Domingo Questal, Leigh Brecheen, Bolko Kissing and Hannah Taylor) came out on top over Santa Monica (Manny Questal, Ardeshir Radpour, Kim Garced/Grainger Hines and Abe Hernandez/Alice Zeggers) and Beverly Hills (Ernie Darquea, Soheil Goel, Chuck Stanislawski and Jeff Rewald). Domingo and Manny each had 12 goals for the tournament, Ernie had 7 goals, Bolko had 3 goals, and Soheil and Chuck each had 1 goal. Ernie was the 2 goal tournament MVP and Hannah Taylor’s horse Sarah was the Best Playing Pony.
The 7th Annual Hector Sustaita Memorial Tournament was a match-up of Malibu vs. Santa Monica. Ernie Darquea tied the game for Malibu with 19 second left in regulation, sending the game into an overtime shootout. Malibu outscored Santa Monica in the shootout, to win the game 6 to 5. Playing for Malibu was Ernie Darquea (4 goals), Chuck Stanislawski (2 goals), Soheil Goel and Richie Merluzza/Paul Martinez. Santa Monica was lead by Domingo Questal (4 goals), Leigh Brecheen, Joana Wyszecki (1 goal) and Hannah Taylor. Domingo Questal was the tournament MVP and Joanna’s horse Lucy was the best playing pony.
