The final game of the Barbara Sinatra Skins Polo Game was expected to be set today after Sunday’s two games at Eldorado. It didn’t happen.
After the morning match-up, everything seemed to be in order as Grant’s Farm Manor/Windsor Capital, as expected, defeated Hanalei Bay by a score of 11 – 8. It was the same old story – Andy Busch et al simply too much to handle.
But in order for things to continue as expected, all the resurgent Tri Tech had to do was put down Long Beach in the feature game and they would have a space reserved next Sunday. As expected, Chris Maloney and Co. held a lead of two goals at the half (5 – 3) and increased that advantage to three after four periods, leading 7 – 4. Not expected however, at that point in time, was a huge effort from Long Beach’s Hugo Barabucci with three running goals from the field in the fifth (back to back to back) to put the Walker bunch back in the running and trailing by only one going to the sixth (8 – 7). The final chukkar was all sand as the Beach Boys scored four and won going away (Long Beach 11 – Tri Tech 8). The result – the tournament is wide open.
The heroics of Barabucci on this perfect Sunday afternoon overshadowed a very strong effort by Tri Tech’s Mariano Gutierrez.
The finalists for the Skins Polo Game will be determined next Friday, March 23, 2007. Grant’s Farm/Windsor will face Tri Tech and Long Beach will play Hanalei Bay.
Standings:
Grants Farm Manor/Windsor Capital 2 0 +7
Tri Tech 1 1 +1
Long Beach 1 1 -1
Hanalei Bay 0 2 -7
