The death of Skeeter Johnston is a huge loss for his family and for the world of Polo as well. Skeeter was a thin, double tough, very little nonsense man. He was liked very much around the planet as a polo player, business executive and most of all a sportsman who always tried to do right.

Skeeter was one of three men putting together the new Polo League (NAPL) which could bring polo to the masses as a spectator sport. Skeeter’s Father, Skee Johnson, was the last left-handed player to play in the U.S. Open. Skee actually did play with the mallet in his left hand which is no longer permitted. I sincerly doubt many people playing today have even seen this anywhere . It was banned to anyone not playing before 1960 I believe . His son Skeeter played a fantastic game on Sunday Morning leading his team to victory over the heavily favored Catamount Squad in OverTime . His Skeeterville team was set to play Good Friday at I believe 3 p.m. This is a very sad day and we do wish the family all the best in these very sad times itt will take a big man to fill his shoes and lead this sport back to the main road .
So Long Skeeter
