Today was a big day as Eldorado had two finals plus some consolation finals and set the stage for the big finals of the year.  It was Mini Mac (Julian Mannix) showing Big Bro he is on his tail at a high rate of speed. In the first finals of the day, it was Julian Mannix and his Hawks meeting Dudley’s Casa Blanca.  It was a one team show for the first three chukkers and then Smokin’ Joe came tumbling down in a pretty big wreck which left with a broken collar bone.  The lead was 5 and then Juan Curbelo came in to replace Joe and the lights came on at Casa Blanca.  Suddenly the Young Guns, who are all under 17, had no Papa to send them.  The other side was flying to the goal and the lead was erased.  By the 6th it was tied then CasaBlanca went up, but Kids have little fear.  Julian Mannix, Jesse Bray and Patrick Uretz showed they were not done.  As soon as CasaBlanca got ahead the switch came on and with “Batata” (Juan Curbelo) firing away it was let ‘em run and run they did, tying it up twice.  The goal by young Julian was awesome to tie AGAIN and then Juan Curbelo showed them how as he cut a ball in wide open and CasaBlanca could not reply.  The 2009 CHAMPS are HAWKS of the Officer’s Cup.

Just previous to this in the Jr. Officer’s it was Eric Hammon and Papa Walker stopping Trinity Polo for that one.  In the finals of the Jr. Officer’s it was a little like a killing as young Robert J. III and his VALIENTE squad could easily step into the Governor’s Cup next week and not change a thing. They have dominated all season long and took no prisoners today as they tripled the score on MISTY VALE.  Misty Vale has been to two finals with two Rookies from Canada Reg White and Hayward Pardu  who are playing with another Canook Kyle Fargey and local Lawman Jake Devane. You might say somebody is not rated right. In the Skins it was not supposed to be the elimination round as there is one game to go, but Atlant and the Hawks decided to end it today.  They did it well as ATLANT playing COTTEREL FARMS,  who already had one loss, ran into a bear trap as the Palomino (Jason Crowder) scored 3 goals in the first chukker.  In the second Cotterel seemed to be back in the game, but they were all penalty shots.  Then Atlant fired back up as Nick Galindo, subbing for Matt Walker who is part of the walking wounded, Bolko Kissling and Mr. Walker got back on track and away they went.  They punished Cotterrel the rest of the game by several goals to head to the Skins final where they will meet Mini Mac and his Hawks.  Even without Smokin’ Joe on the Hawks they had a bit of a hard time for a couple of chukkers, but Joe’s replacement, young gun Tomas Obregon got on track and they smoked their way to the finals next Sunday.  The Hawks and Atlant are both in the finals.

It was a very windy day and a bad day for Colorado my home State.  They went 1 and 2 with only the young Gun Robert Jornayvaz taking any silver home to the Rockies.  As we look forward maybe the West is not so bad because they are all still in the running.  It should be a fun finals and we will only know the lineups after the Doctor visist a few people on the injured list. Despite the tennis finals next door and the magnificent wind it was sunny and the field played well.  There was also a very good turnout, but wait until next weekend . . .  it will be PARTY TIME  SO BE THERE.
