The Polo Report
by Steve Crowder

After trailing for 5 chukkers and 3 minutes, it was a do or die situation for Piocho Ranch.  The Cowboys from Piocho Ranch finally got rockin’. They were  down by 2 and sometimes by  4, but they never said “no” just GO. They came within two a couple of times in the 3rd and fifth, but Kirana kept the pressure on with big gun Santi Wulf doing most of the damage.  Brian Boyd kept it moving so many times with big runs and great passes.  They seem to have  had it in hand most of the game and with a great effort from the #1, Paige Beard, doing a good job.  It was all in their hands and the silver was so close, but the Lawman finally did the thing polo players often do not do ” think” and it was soon a new game.  It was  a winning game as TJ kept them hunting him down.  Then cames the Calvary of Cowboys behind him and it was a brand new game just like that.  Piocho outscored Karina by 4 in the last chukker to step up to the deck and take their award.

In the consolation it was the Governor, Pat Nesbitt, letting them run for the first time in many months.  He was doing it well as they also came from way back to beat Long Beach. We used to call the Governor, the Maroon Harpoon, as he was always in Maroon.  He says Jeff Hall gave him these pink mallets . . . maybe they were too light for Jeff’s wife, but now maybe we can call him the Pink Lady or we need a new name because its no longer the Maroon Harpoon. But hey it worked.

The Queen’s Cup starts in the UK this Tuesday, so be ready to see it if you are in England. Prince Harry is coming to NY,  so Polo has an agenda . However ,on the West Coast today belongs to the 2009 Lisle Nixon CHAMPS …

CONGRATULATIONS!

When you look up in the sky the next couple of days think about those brave astronauts up there working on that Hubble. I reckon those boys are very brave. Good luck to them. You do not see much press about that, it just is not sensational enough I guess.

See ya.

Steve Crowder.
