May in San Diego is the beginning of the polo season with the Margarita
League, which is designed to promote commaraderie between the clubs members and the newer members making the transition from the arena polo program to playing on the grass.
On May 5th three teams played to determine the finalist for Sunday, the Saturday polo was followed by a BBQ and Margarita party at the clubhouse as well as a Kentucky Derby watching party. On Sunday Marcus and Millichap and Princeps played for the first weeks bragging rights with Marcus and Millichap coming from behind to defeat Princeps.
Week two had five teams competing for a shot to be in the winners circle. Saturdays play left Princeps set to play MonteVerde/Adeptus Sunday in the winners bracket. Saturdays polo was followed by another BBQ and round of Margaritas. Sunday led by Dirk Wray, Princeps was again victorious in the Margarita League.
MARGARITA LEAGUE ROUND THREE WON BY GLADIATOR
Saturday May 19th saw five teams going for a shot in the finals, with Gladiator and Princeps prevailing from the day’s action. The highlight Saturday was the BBQ and margaritas that followed the match. On Sunday Gladiator with Tracee Mulvaney and Jocelyn Parker each scoring two goals defeated Princeps in a close match, Alisha Wray had a strong effort in a losing cause as she led all scoring with three goals.
