Club League Polo:
This is a series of two-week tournaments running April through October to promote a friendly but competitive atmosphere. League Polo is free to SBPRC Annual members. Players from other clubs are always invited to play for the monthly rate of $4,000, or you can come and enjoy our beautiful
Club for any two-week tournament for $2,700.
4-Chukkar League:
New this year at Santa Barbara, this is designed to enable beginning players to become involved in the sport. The polo matches will be friendly and fun, and enable people who only have one, two or three horses to be fully immersed in polo. This league will run April- June, September and October, and only costs $55/chukkar and $15/day for stabling per horse.
PTF Umpire Clinic with Steve Lane May 21-23:
Get up to date and all of your umpiring questions answered with Steve Lane. Learn about new rules, interpretations, video footage of actual game conditions to explain fouls and a whole lot more! Spend time in the Arena and on the field. This is a “Hands on Learning Experience”. Cost $60.00 per person- RSVP to Mike Sheller at polotraining@sbpolo.com or 818-292-1533.
Spring 12 goal- Our 12 goal season is back and better than ever. Players from Santa Barbara, Indio, Texas, New Mexico, Argentina, and Los Angeles are teaming up for an exciting two months of 12 goal tournaments. Play starts with the Lisle Nixon Tournament, followed by the Pope Challenge, Vic Graber, and culiminating with the USPA Intra- Circuit Tournament. SBPRC is still accepting entries for this league, don’t miss your chance to play 12 goal polo on the wonderful SBPRC fields overlooking the Pacific Ocean.
Spring Inter-Club Challenge:
Teams from other clubs in California are invited to enjoy the ocean setting in Santa Barbara, and play for a weekend against our SB polo team. These matches will be six-chukkar polo on Saturdays and Sundays for only $55 per chukkar, stabling is extra. We have received a great response and several teams already have secured dates to come to SB. We can adjust our SB team to almost any level you want to play. Dates are available all season long.
Summer 20 Goal- Better Than Ever:
Eight teams will be in Santa Barbara during July and August competing in four exciting 20 goal tournaments, leading up to the prestigious Bombardier Pacific Coast Open. This year promises to be the most competitive year ever, with world-class players and ponies battling for polo glory on the Santa Barbara fields. Make sure you are here in Santa Barbara on August 29 to see the finals of the Bombardier PCO- if you only see one Polo match a year this is the match to see.
Rege Ludwig Clinic July 15 to 17:
Introduction to polo or a refresher course for the experienced polo playerThere are daily lectures on various subjects: rules and regulations, responsibility of each position, equipment, strategy, team play, umpiring and conformation of the horse. In addition, of course, we play polo every day in the arena and on the grass polo fields. The cost of the polo course is $1,500.00, which provides you with fully equipped polo horses and the instruction. If you are interested in attending the clinic, please email-Mike Sheller Polotraining@sbpolo.com for an application form. A 50% deposit for the clinic to Santa Barbara Polo Club will be required.
Fall 8 goal Season
Our series of four fall tournaments will be played once again in September and October and we expect at least 6 teams will participate. Fall is one of the best times to play in SB with cool clear sunny days and mild ocean breezes.
