In the U.K. it was a big one as 4 of the young guns of the planet hooked up in the finals of the Queens Cup. Ellerston and the Pieres Boys both 9 & 10 took on Loro Piana with Young Spaniard David “Pelon” Stirling. He is the only one under 9 goals, but he is now holding the last 3 high Goal trophies. Stirling played in the U.S. Gold Cup, the U.S. Open and now he can add the Queens Cup. Stirling is 7 for another week or two. His teammatem Juan Nerom just reached 10-Goals in the U.S. and may soon see the same rating over seas as well. It was a very good game by all accounts. They won in overtime for Loro Piana and now look for the grand daddy of them all, the British Open.
In the U.S. it was a good showing by the West Coast Players who are currently on the East Coast in New York and CT. It was Augi Dawgy (Agustin Zavaleta) who lost in the finals to Ernie Ezcurra, who is also the local “good-eye” in the desert polo circuit. Over in Nashville, TN it was Jophie (Joseph Stuart) staying ahead as his team Mt. Brilliant won the Fagen Cup in the Music City. Out on the East Coast in Greenwich, CT it was the Torres boys, Miguel and Santi, heading to the finals there. In Houston Shane Rice “the
Riceman” is doing very well.
Here on the Gold Coast in San Diego it was Pretty Lady Lisa Bosstick and Silent Chris Maloney burying the Palomino (Jason Cowder) then holding on for the win. In another bender it was “the Pope” as in Ed Pope slaying Ms. Kelly Maloney in an old-fashioned whipping on the Sunday field. They head to round 3. Aspen Oaks at 2 & 0
A little farther up the coast in Santa Barbara it was Long Beach in the lead at the end of 5, but Frederico came out to take the 6th and silent the Long Beach crowd as the Lawman’s Dad, Joel Ladin, took his team to another finals come Sunday. It was Wild Bill Freeman making way with 3 goals to lead Corleone/Klentner to a big win over Gehache. They will head to a semis vs. Long Beach on Friday.
