It was a warm and glorious day at the Santa Barbara Polo & Racquet Club on Saturday, April 10th. The fields were busy with the sounds of mallets colliding and horses galloping toward the polo ball. It was a special occasion because the California Polo Club came up from Los Angeles to play with members from the Santa Barbara Polo & Racquet Club.
The following members from CPC enjoyed spending the day playing with SBPRC: Kimberly Garsed, Grainger Hines, Alice Zegers, Peter Knox, David Oles, Abraham Hernandez, Barbara Benson, Susan Cooley and Jenny Morgan. The SBPRC members included: Matt Ladin, Toby Mayer, Bowen Farrell, Justin Klentner, Glen Holden III and Glen Holden Jr. All the players had a great time, and the chukkers were tailored to meet each member’s needs, whether they had one horse or six in their string.
There were a lot of spectators that enjoyed spending the afternoon picnicking next to the field and rooting for their favorite players. California Polo Club member Grainger Hines said afterwards, “We all had a lot of fun and everyone was great to us.”
The SBPRC looks forward to playing with the CPC members again soon! If your club would like to experience chukkers on the fabulous SBPRC fields, contact Melanja Jones at melanjaj@sbpolo.com , there are still some dates available for Interclub matches.
