USPA Circuit Governor Chris Dawson organized the first circuit Strategic Planning session for the Hawaiian Polo Circuit. All four clubs were represented including Hawaii PC,Honolulu PC,Maui PC and Mauna Kea PC. Fifteen participants met with the two USPA representatives Kris Bowman, National Club Development Director and Amy Wisehart, I/I Club Development on Tuesday, May 11th from 9am – 2pm.
The strategic planning session began with an overview of USPA programs and benefits intended to better serve the USPA members and clubs of Hawaii on their quest for growth. Each club gave an overview of their membership, fees, level of play and any marketing or advertising that they were implementing. This segment of sharing ideas among the group was extremely helpful and it stimulated new ideas for each club.
The meeting ended with a talk about what the future of Hawaiian polo looked like and what they could do collectively to achieve growth. The group then worked through a SWOT exercise to identify their strengths, weakness’, threats and opportunities and then sought an action plan and targets. Participants were: Maui Polo Club – Alice Lombardo, Allen Hoe,Bob Miller Hawaii Polo Club – Mike Dailey ,JW Hall, Bob Hogan Honolulu Polo Club – Joe Harley, Erin Brittin, Lyn Baldwin, Herman Louis DeCoite, Mauna Kea Polo Club – Paula Beamer and facilitators Kris Bowman, Chris Dawson and Amy Wisehart.
