SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The spectacular setting of the Saratoga Polo Association, overlooking historic Whitney Field, is the backdrop for some very special events this summer that expand community activities and benefit a number of local and national charities.
World-class Polo is played every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday through Sept. 2 weather and field conditions permitting. Gates open at 4 p.m. and matches start at 5:30 p.m. on the Saratoga Polo grounds, corner of Bloomfield and Denton Roads.

Sunday, 7/22 – Saratoga Polo’s Annual Hat Contest
Wear your best chapeau and be part of the half-time fun during play for the Santi Pinot Grigio Cup at Saratoga Polo. Stomp the divots (a polo half-time tradition) as you join the fun of entering this year’s contest for great prizes.
7/25-8/1 – Artist Exhibition
Step into the Clubhouse to see the equine art of Saratoga Springs artist Frankie Flores on display.
7/29 – Lexus Cup and Annual Tailgate Competition
World-class picnics prepared by spectators make this one of the most memorable events of the Saratoga Polo season. This year’s theme is “Summer at the Cape” for a Down East flavor. Prizes will be awarded in several categories. Tailgate set up begins when gates open at 4 p.m. Judging takes place during halftime with prizes given after the trophy presentation.
July 31 – 27th Annual Palamountain Cup – Polo by Twilight
Benefit gourmet dinner and polo match benefit The Joseph C. and Anne T. Palamountain Scholarship Fund at Skidmore College. August 5 – The Flavors of Bobby Flay
Annual Gala Benefit for the Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation.
Celebrity Chef Bobby Flay, also a horse owner and breeder, creates his masterpieces on this night exclusively for the TRF’s annual Saratoga fund-raiser. This evening, polo will be played on the Skidmore field with the Frangelico observation bus on site. Spectators are invited to watch the match from the vehicle’s second story.
ABOUT SARATOGA POLO
Saratoga Polo is one of the four oldest polo clubs in the United States, located on 42 acres, with many matches taking place on the original field built by William Collins Whitney in 1898.
General admission for matches is $20 per carload or $10 per person and tailgate picnics are welcomed. For those arriving by foot or bicycle, admission is $5 per person. Children under age 16 are free when accompanied by an adult. VIP Clubhouse admission is $20 per person and patrons dress as they might for a day at the racetrack. During the games, an unlimited chef’s selection of Tapas and mingle fare is available in the VIP area from 5:30 to 7 p.m. In the VIP tent, post-game dinners are served from 7 to 10 p.m. on Friday and Sunday before track season, and on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday during track season.
