Young Gun Clemente Zavaleta in the end was the one to watch. He was also the only double winner at the end as he won two USPA tournaments in one day. Clemente came through in the 4-goal as True Choice/OC had a fabulous day and stopped Ms. Wilson in overtime. Rocket Robert Kiger put them in the position by scoring the goal that sent them into overtime with just seconds on the clock. It was sort of like Padrig in the British Open (Golf) making it at the last moment, but winning it all in the end. A fired-up Wolfman (Ashton Wolf) and hard-charging Rick Paicius of the triple R’s (True Choice/OC – Robert Kiger, Robin/Rick Paicuius, Ashton Wolf, Clemente Zavaleta) were not to be denied as they wanted the page in the blue book.
In the 8-10 Goal it was the Doctor (Gaston Von Wernich) and Lady Lisa Bosstick doing it to Phoenix with Gary Haydon and the Palomino (Jason Crowder). After a big comeback to tie the game it was the pretty Lady Lisa smacking one through to offset the big charge. Silent Chris Maloney was a happy man as he takes it as well, but a tired and hard-working Clemente Zavaleta did it twice and he was sleeping in today they say.
San Diego Polo goes dark for the next 3 weeks and it has to be happy with a huge turnout of fans as well as teams. The fun is just getting started as August has the Fernando Guiterrez Cup then Party central kicks in with the Spreckles and Rancho Valencia Cups for 5 wild weeks of nothing but fun as they say.
Jofie (Joseph Stuart) was in the finals in the Bluegrass state, but news is travelin slow. Lechuza is #1 in Europe in ’07 for sure.
