The Detroit Polo Club (DPC) is sad to inform you of the passing of Richard “Hoot” Gibson. Rich was a long time member of the DPC and a solid outdoor and arena player for many years and well known for his booming “backhanders”.
Rich began polo with the Ivory Polo Team Gold Hats during their dominant days of Mid-States arena play. He was an outstanding horseman having been taught by his father who was Huntsman for the Bloomfield Open Hunt.
Rich always had a ready grin and a story to tell. His many polo friends will sorely miss him. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
