The Polo Report
By Steve Crowder

The Santa Barbara Polo Club is celebrating their 100th year anniversary this year.   It was a treat as Adolfo Cambiaso made his debut on the MAIN FIELD and I doubt anyone here will forget it other than Valiente. I call him AC because those are his initials and the letters AC also mean “the form in which electric power is delivered.” That is exactly what he does … and it leads to more efficient play.  Adolfo is 1/2 of the teams handicap alone at 10 goals. The other 3 players make up 10 goals among themselves, but I guarantee they are a very strong 10-goals.

Do not ask Valiente about it, they just feel like they ran into a Mack truck without a horse and they did. The crowd for the most part had never seen AC perform before, but there is no other comparison than maybe Michael Jordan or Tiger Woods. He is that much better than the best, who are none other than the other best players in the World.

When you think 7 days ago exactly about 7 am our time this same person Adolfo was leading his team to the British Open Finals win where it was probably warmer than it was here today at 64 degrees.  We didn’t have any rain.  AC arrived  here Tuesday to get ready for this tournament.  You might say he is a Professional.

It was a good game with a few too many fouls blown, but maybe or maybe not.  It was not close until the 3 rd chukker and after 1/2 time. It took 3.5 minutes to end it as AC scored 4 goals in about 3 minutes and it was over and Lucchese ran off with a huge lead and finished well ahead of the next best team.

Just for example,  two players Jason and Andres were lowered because the committee felt they were not rated right. Well today they were sure not right as this trio of John M. ,Jason Crowder and Andres seem to be wel …l ask Valiente ? goals.

In the consolation finals it was Grant’s Farm, defending Champs of Pacific Coast Open, thrashing Zacara.  Jeff Blake looked a little like AC as he drove the ball through and around Zac most of the day. It was a foul-crazy game as 30 + fouls were called and only about 8 in penalty range of goal.  It  was a bit confusing to the general public. The next tournament, which is the America Cup, starts this Friday at 10 a.m. So get ready for a fun filled weekend.
