10th Annual Ronald Reagan Memorial Tournament
The finals of the 10th annual Ronald Reagan Memorial Tournament were held May 18th at the Will Rogers Polo Club in Los Angeles, CA. President Reagan was a frequent spectator at Will Rogers up until shortly before his death. This was first tournament of the 2008 season and was a very exciting game. Malibu (Bruce Gaither, Steve Sadler, Gina Padilla and Ardeshir Radpour) and Santa Monica (Domingo Questal, Bill Davis, John Waybill and Sunny Sassoon) battled it out in a very hard fought game. The game was tied 1-1 after the first chukkar, was 5-2 (in favor of Santa Monica) after 2 chukkars and was 8-2 after 3 chukkars. Malibu fought back in the 4th, but in the end Santa Monica won the trophies filled with Jelly Belly’s (a trademark food of Ronald Reagan) by a score of 8-6.
Domingo Questal and Bill Davis each had 4 goals in the win. Ardeshir Radpour lead his team with 3 goals, Steve added two and Bruce added one. Bruce’s horse ‘Flash” took best playing pony honors and Bill Davis was award the tournament MVP trophy.
