The sportsmanship award went to Vicky Greene, she hauled her horses all the way from Houston. The award was a beautiful gift basket arranged by Carol Rhoads, www.carolinistreasures.com
Sophia Gleeson was awarded Best Playing Pony a mare named Tina Turner.
This award, a horse blanket was donated by Shelley DeCou, Frisco, TX, www.TexasHorseHardware.com.
Tournament Highlights
Game 1
Stonebriar vs. The Magnolia House / WalkerBoy.com
Stonebriar jumped out to a lead scoring the first goal of the match putting them up 2 goals, as they were awarded a handicap of 1 goal. Susan Wise, The Magnolia House / WalkerBoy.com made a great carry to goal on an assist by Roxy Keyfauver. Keyfauver then scored again to end the first tied 2-2. The second chukker was a battle with Stephanie Scruggs scoring for Stonebriar to finish the second up a goal at 3-2.
After the halftime Michelle Huber quickly found the goal to put Stonebriar in a lead 4-2. The final chukker was action packed, The Magnolia House / WalkerBoy.com scoring 4-3 and then, another goal for Stephanie Scruggs Stonebriar 5-3. Krissy Payne scored the final goal of the day, for The Magnolia House / WalkerBoy.com but came up short 5-4 to winners Stonebriar.
Game 2
Lockton vs. BTA
Perfect weather on a beautifully manicured field at Stonebriar Polo Club, K.C. Beal put one on the scoreboard 1-0 BTA in the first chukker. The second chukker saw more action and teamwork as Karen Beste put one on the board for Lockton only to have BTA come back strong with two quick goals by Chrys Beal and K.C. Beal to end the chukker 3-1 BTA.
BTA dominated Lockton in the third out scoring them 3 goals, 2 by K.C. Beal followed by one for Molly Musselman. BTA 6-1.
Opening minutes of the fourth saw Chrys Beal score a penalty 2 putting BTA in the lead 7-1. Lockton managed to score two quick goals to end the game 7-3
Game 3
Santa Anita vs. Catena
The first chukker started out a goal for Sherrie Beyer Catena up 1-0.
The pace of the game picked up tremendously in the second chukker. Mike McCleary’s coached team Santa Anita came together and backed each other up and ran up the score five goals. Amanda Massey drew first score. Courtney Rosa scored two back-to-back goals, only to have sister Stephanie Massey wanting part of the glory putting one on the board as well. Well, sister Amanda was so pumped up and out scored her sister for her second goal of the chukker ending score 5-1 Santa Anita. The third chukker was all Courtney Rosa putting three goals on the board for Santa Anita 8-1
Last chukker Amanda Massey scored again final score 9-1
Game 4
The Magnolia House / WalkerBoy.com vs. Catena
Both teams now had a game playing together under their belts so the team play came together. The Magnolia House / WalkerBoy.com started with one on handicap. Carla Gallichotte scored first to end the chukker tied 1-1. The second chukker had Roxy Keyfauver put a quick goal in to lead 2-1 The Magnolia House / WalkerBoy.com. Sherrie Beyer and Carla Gallichotte scored two more goals 3-2 Catena. Roxy Keyfauver adding one more 3-3 tie end of chukker. Second half saw Susan Wise come alive and put one up for The Magnolia House / WalkerBoy.com followed by Roxy Keyfauver and Catherine Campos each putting one on the board 6-3 The Magnolia House / WalkerBoy.com. Abby Abel finally found her stride and scored to end the chukker 6-4. Abby opened the last chukker with a great steal and carry down the sideboards with a cut away shot to goal 6-5. Carla Gallichotte scored 6-6. Roxy Keyfauver came back with a goal 7-6 Carla Gallichotte put the tying goal in for Catena 7-7
Game 5
BTA vs. Santa Anita
K.C. Beal opened the game up with a quick two goals in the first chukker.
The start of the second chukker had Courtney Rosa on the penalty line scoring a penalty 3 followed by Danielle Travis scoring for Santa Anita 2-2
All the ladies showed their horsewoman ship skills. The third chukker Stephanie Massey found the uprights 3-2 Santa Anita. BTA came out strong in the fourth with Chrys Beal putting one on the board 3-3. Courtney Rosa fought back and gained two more goals to end the chukker 5-3. They played this game on the flat even though they had junior and college memberships.
Well done and congratulations to Mike McCleary for coaching these girls.
Game 6
Lockton vs. Stonebriar
Stonebriar started the game with a 2-goal handicap. Vicky Greene opened the scoring for Lockton with teammate Wendy Barquin adding a penalty 3 and Vicky Greene scoring again to end the chukker 3-2 Lockton. Sofia Gleeson a hit at the 60-yard, which she scored with help from Alexis Barker.
Wendy Barquin opened the third chukker with a penalty 3 followed by Vickie Greene scoring twice more ending the chukker 7-4 Lockton. The last chukker Karen Beste finally got her chance to score, as did Lockton 8-4 with Sophia Gleeson adding a penalty 3
Final score 8-5 Lockton.
