If you thought that the upper echelons of the polo community were immune to any ripples in the economy this year should serve as an alert that everyone is affected.
Last year the International Polo Club in Wellington hosted 12 teams in the United States Open Championship. This year, to date, there are only seven, the fewest number of teams since 1993.
Familiar teams gone from the ranks include Skeeterville, Bendabout, Black Watch, Crab Orchard, and host Isla Carroll.
