Well Happy New year all glad to see you are all back and reading Polo Zone that’s alright if you say I never read it because you never have to give an opinion . Friday Jan 2nd was the start of a long and hopefully a big season in the Desert as Empire and El Dorado start California’s year to become the Place to BE in Polo . The big difference in Ca. is it is year round and the Weather is always perfect for it . You can start in Jan. and stop in Nov. take a break and go to South America or just go away and enjoy another life but you can be back in the Saddle as soon as Christmas . The Desert is so much better than Florida and still unknown by the big boys . Why ? Wrong Coast wrong Name ? Not sure it is hard to say other than level of play , and that could change over a weekend . The truth is Two former Desert Teams are two of the best teams in Florida The Mannix Camp who had a huge hand in making the Desert are defending Chams of US Open and big Bob and Valiente won everything else .The Desert has more fields than most People even could imagine it cost a tenth of Fl. It never Rains and anybody can play just make a schedule they will make it Work because we know some of you work .Empire must be the Classiest Polo Club in the World and have some great fields , El Dorado now with new everything Owners on to roads it is a happening place and guess what it is clean . The Desert well there is no place like it 40’s at night 75 by 9.am everyday and no rain practice , stick and ball and play TWO TOURNAMENT GAMES at least ever week. Some times you wonder why people do not know what it is like to be here . Well good question , ANSWER they have not been here in the last 3 years . I would guess most of you watched football today : think about what you seen 2 games first one Az. vs NC it looked like a B squad football game both teams the best answer is one had to win and Az. looked so Bad no Kicker no Quarterback most likely they could have been beat by San Diego State , then you watch Pit vs Baltimore holy sh_t one was real the other well professional? Same as Polo a short time ago the Desert looked like well , it was gone but in stepped Al Haagen and Golden Voice and away the past went . This is where you want to be!Everything you need or want is here Airport pvt. or commercial,weather , beaches ,Skiing , hiking , tennis and Golf like you will never find anywhere an all in 1 hour or less and the you can enjoy Coachella if you desire the biggest concert in the World they say and I do have no idea about this but a million people say yes ever year . Then take a break and head to even more Glamorous places Del Mar / San Diego or Santa Barbara or want to be quiet an happy head to Temecula or Petaluma it is all right here on the Gold Coast . Look it up:
Petaluma :20 minutes from San Franciso low goal and so much funnnn
Temecula : 30 from LA or San Diego made for polo and parties with the family .
San Diego : Where the Surf meets the Turf and you never have a bad day and never have time to do all you want to and it is Party Town
Will Rogers : Right in the Heart of Hollywood and Beverly Hills .
Santa Barbara : Has a brand new face and a few new Board members who want to see SB back in the Glamor and they are on there way to getting it done new Pres. John Muse and aggressive board we may get there very quick . It will be so NICE this could be the New Sotogrande we have fields , weather and few million people around here who need to see POLO.
