Sunday’s final boasted two excellent 12 Goal teams, BTA versus Tonkawa, on Farish Field. BTA’s Kelly Beal scored a strong first goal off a pass from teammate Steve Krueger but Tonkawa’s Tommy Biddle tied things back up with a crucial spot penalty 2 conversion to end the first chukker, 1-1. Matt Coppola score halfway through the second with a run down the field for Tonkawa but Krueger converted his first penalty shot for BTA and tied it back up 2-2. The third chukker was moved quickly as both teams scored two a piece; Shane Rice and Mason Wroe for BTA and Coppola and Biddle for Tonkawa, to leave the score 4-4 at the half.
At half time Sunday guests enjoyed complementary champagne, display cars from Land Rover Houston Central and Jaguar Houston Central and our McDugald & Steele sponsor Pony Hops. As the winds shifted from blowing North to blowing East our sunny sky drew darker and darker through the fourth chukker. Coppola scored for Tonkawa with Krueger and Biddle also trading goals to end the fourth, 6-5 Tonkawa. The lighting and rain postponed our last two chukker until Wednesday but both teams pick up right where they left off. Coppola scored first with a quick run from the line up for Tonkawa followed by a goal from Wroe for BTA. Then Biddle and Coppola scored back to back goals to take their lead to 9-6. But in the sixth BTA made quick work to get goals in by Krueger and Wroe to bring them within one, however time fell short and Tonkawa came away victorious, 9-8.
