Women’s Polo Tournament Finals

Brandywine Polo Club
There were 6 teams arrived at Brandywine with positive energy ready to play and go for the finals. The Brandywine Bunnies invited Natasha Baecher from Argentina to compete in the tournament. We had teams from Maryland Virginia and some teams with interscholastic players getting their first taste of tournament grass polo. Teams played over three days culminating in the finals on Sunday July 4th.

Finals
Brandywine Bunnies 8 / Maryland 7
The home team of the Brandywine bunnies rode out to face their challengers, Maryland adorned with bunnies ears and tails much to the delight of the crowd. Maryland quickly capitalized on their two goal handicap and scored 2 quick goals from the mallet of Kelly Wells, but the Bunnies answers back with 2 field goals by Natasha Baecher and a penalty from Molly Smith
In chukkurs two and three both teams traded goals to start the fourth chukkur tied 6-6.
As both teams found there momentum, the fourth chukkur was fast and furious. Natasha Baecher managed to score for the bunnies mid chukkur and kept the pressure on the Maryland team, but Marylands strong team work resulted in a goal just before the horn by 15 year old Mary Collins to tie the game.
Overtime saw both teams have chances on goal but a blistering run by Natasha Baecher sealed Marylands fate.
13 year old Marisa Wells was named MVP of the game
Chiquita owned by Cindy Buchanan and played by Natasha Baecher was BPP.
Teams came away with Prizes from Ralph Lauren designer Felicity Biggens, Roses from Sweet Peas of Jennerville and calenders from the Polo Girls,
