It was avery big day in Palm Beach, FL and there were 4 games. It seemed like it would be awesome polo, but it was 4 teams drubbing the other 4. Some got close, but only after the 5th chukker when the winners were coasting.

In the first game it was Zacara taking on defending champs Crab Orchard. It was a close game for 3 chukkers, but from 4 to 6 it was the Jeff Blake show as he constantly set the pace by stealing the throw ins and giving it to guess who? Adolfo Cambiaso! He really does not need the added help. The goals started to wear out the flagmen for the Pink as Cambiaso and Mr. Blake scored about 10 goals in the last 3 and it was all over 21 minutes before. In the second game it was more of the same as Los Monjitas clubbed Isla Carroll for four chukkers and then coasted home. Isla Carroll was rallying for a better score. I did not really see much of the 3rd game, but it was more of the same I think as Black Watch ran off to a big lead and Bendabout came back and did make a game out of it. Bendabout just missed a tie when Ms. Gillian’s shot cleared the goal 2 seconds after the bell.

In the late game it was “Nick the Stick” (Nick Roldan) getting the stick as Pony Express ran into a buzzsaw called Skeeterville. It was 10 to 2 at 1/2 time and getting worse until the passion to be nice hit the boys from Tennessee. Its odd that all of these teams are from 25 to 26 goals, all have played at least 3 games and got through to the final 8 and 2 won their bracket and still got smoked. You just never know about polo and thats what makes it fun. The only thing you do know in polo is Adolfo Cambiaso and Tiger Woods are very similar. They probably will win no matter what happens. If it rains, snows or blows 80 miles an hour, it just does not seem to matter to these two stars.

Out west at Eldorado Polo Club it was the Windsor Cap. speedballs heading first into the Barbara Sinatra Skins 12-Goal semis. They got by Father Joe Henderson and Mini Mac (Julian Mannix of the Hawks) in the last few seconds with a big goal from BA Bullet Clemente Zavaleta to put Windsor at 3 and 0. It makes for some big ones as High Prairie and Palm Desert go for a spot on Friday as well as Valiente who needs a win and on Sat. The Hawks need to win and the Colorado Cowgirl (Jenny Luttrell) still has a shot with some help. So Friday will be a big day out West. Wed. will be a big day back East and nobody knows who will be the next surprise until then. See ya.
