Audi is King of the Hill so far and Grant’s Farm for them. It was a cool, cloudy and comfortable day in dear old Carpinteria. There was plenty of action in game 1. It was Grant’s Farm slowly, but surely destroying Klentner Ranch/Grand Champions. They fell behind for a while, but got it on a roll as Andy Busch took it fast and Jeff Hall did the rest, but all with good support from Little Mac (Frederick Mannix, Jr.) and Cachi Garcia-Velez. Grant’s Farm heads to the finals where they will face the big task of challenging Audi. Audi has two very solid high-goaler players and another one except he is only rated 3-goals . . . somehow. Of course he is a foreigner, so that’s different. If he was an American he would be in jail by now (or monstered by the handicap committee). He is a young man named Gonzalo and not a Pieres just playing like one so far. His name is Gonzalo del Torre. It is kind of humorous, but I talked to someone who knows him from Boca and they said “yes he was very good in 2006 and 2007, but just not consistent. He could be 3-goals or he could be 6-goals. Well time has helped because in 3 games he has been playing equal to a 6-goal rating for 6 chukkers. After all, these teams are all 20- goals. Audi was tested in the first game by Long Beach and won their next 2 games by a total of about 15 with Gonzalo Pieres (their 10-Goaler) galloping in the 6th chukker. Something is WRONG. Right now Audi is a walkover for the West Coast, but we shall see if the handicap committee steps up.

In the final game of the day it was Luchesse getting their first win of ‘08 as Big John Muse hit the field running, sometimes playing 4 and then going to #1 because his teammate had a problem reading the # on his Jersey. He was good at both ends and so was John and they finished with a + so it might work.

Sunday works out like this: Jeff Hall and Fred Mannix, Cachi Garcia and Andy Busch take on a severely underrated Audi with Mark Ganzi, Sugar Erskine, the sensational Gonzalo Pieres and 3-Goaler Gonzalo Del Torre who is really a 6-goaler.

Back East the Mercedes Cup is becoming a fun place for the Carpet Man, Ben Soleimoni. He rolls into game 3 undefeated, but he does have to play Peter Brant’s White Birch. Ben’s team Mansour, is a West Coast Team and they are not stepping aside from the pressure. The Snowman is ready to rock with his Chile’s by his side. Things will heat up on the Long Island I have no doubt.

Across the pond in England its Los Monjitas headed to the finals in the Bronze Cup where they meet new 10-goaler Pablo Mc Donough, who was here about 3 years ago maybe 4. It should be a fun Sunday worldwide. So take some time, come on out and see the game in your area. It will be a good time for all.

See ya.
