It’s finals time and it’s the end of the season. Long Beach buried Grand Champion/Klentner. Danny Boy was on top. It was a final of the Western Badge, with a bit of fire as usual. Long Beach have lost most of their games by 1 goal and never said quit to anyone. It was a great lead to the finals, which could be a blowout, but just maybe there is an upset in the air. Audi is a 24-goal team, who seems to have it won, but its polo. There is a Bolt (Fred H. Mannix) and a Busch (Andy Busch) pushed by a very determined Star of America by the name of Jeff Hall. If he keeps his smile this could get wild. Audi is like 16 and 0 in Santa Barbara. Grant’s Farm maybe 8 & 8, but it’s the finals and there is no tomorrow. So sit tight and watch the fireworks. It comes down to support and they both have it in their Quarter Backs. They are the two best players here. Audi has Gonzalo Pieres, who has been unruffled and unstoppable all summer long. Grant’s Farm has Jeff Hall, who is the second best player here despite his handicap.

For the last 3 weeks minus 1 day born to win they both have madmen in the #2 spot. The Bolt (Fred H. Mannix) for Jeff Hall and Grant’s Farm. If he is on, this will be a game and quick is a lot less than he is . . . so fast. Across the line is a better-mounted speed ball named Sugar Erskine, who has been here before. He has horses this time, so he may be too much for the Green Machine of Grant’s Farm.

Both the # 1’s pack a bunch. When Marc Ganzi is not whining he is winning. Cachi Garcia-Velez on the green is a brand new star, who is looking for young gun status and has it.

The next match up is the big one. Audi has another Gonzalo about the same size and who is sometimes very similar to the other. The only difference is that he is rated 3-goals. Gonzalo Pieres is 10. Here lies the problem. Who will Gonzalo del Tour stop? So far he has stopped everyone he has played. Across the line is Patron of the Grant’s Farm team, Andy Busch. After a long layover he is back to speed and he is the key as he destroyed a high-goal player last time out. Can he repeat that? I doubt anyone here is going to take Gonzalo Pieres anywhere he does not want to go, but he will try. Andy Busch will not quit for sure.

It should be good if Gonzalo Del Tour does not wipe the smile off Jeff Hall’s face. We have a game if he does and I don’t think we will. That’s the way I see it. Audi is a way better but they could be a Cigar (a famous racehorse) and end at 16 and 0. Or simply go undefeated here in Santa Barbara Summer 2008. No matter what, when the sun sets Sunday one team will be very happy and one will not. Lets just hope its a safe and very good game to end a very good season in Old Santa Barbara. Despite some things, it has been the best in a LONG time.

See you @ the Finals it starts at 2 PM on a fresh field for once in 20 years. Be there.
