A Lady Cares and May save North Americas Players.
She is a Lady who knows stars and super stars as well her Father was 9 goals for close to 25 years. Her husband was 10-goals for 20 + years and her son was 5-goals by the time he was 18. She has lived it all and always made the last call to make it work. Well she did it again. Her name is Mimi Oliver Gracida. Her Father was George Oliver who was big and quick and in the first big time professional period when pros were just getting in the game. Memo was the son of a famous Mexican Player named Memo Gracida, Sr. and he was 7-goals. Memo Jr. who became the first 10-goal in North America for 2 decades or more.
Well Mimi is well aware of the lack of Americans in polo today and well aware of the USPA’s lack of support and protection for the home boys. So she decided to do it again and we are going to help her. With or without the association, she has came up with a Cup that already exists. It is called The George Oliver Cup and it will be played for by the top 8 North Americans available this year. Not because there are not some more players, but its new and it has to happen ASAP due to commitments by many. Not that any or many are getting to play in the U.S. Open anyway, they have other tournaments that they are competing in. This will be a 1 game tournament this year and we added a twist. It will be East vs. West because we can just use 8 players and stay over 22-goals and 25 years under. Its sad, but it’s the way it is. With no protection there is very little opportunity for the North Americans to grow in our sport which has been sold to the foreigners for a song and a story. Some players will be left out and we truly are sorry. It is not our idea to miss anyone, but its quick and we are going for it as Mimi has came up with another hig- goal idea. It will happen March 3rd, 2007. More to come soon on this event. Steve crowder
