Indio, CA (February 2, 2008) – By virtue of a complete game by all four players, Geoff Palmer’s Antelope foursome defeated Jenny Luttrell’s Cotterell Polo by a score of 11 – 9, and in doing so, won the second January 12 goal tournament on Sunday at the Eldorado Polo Club.
After trailing early by 1 – 0 and 3 – 2 counts, the prong-horns led 4 – 3 at the half and never looked back after that as they opened up leads of two and three goals. Cotterell came within one on several occaisions but couldn’t get even in spite of seven penalty conversions (2 fours) by Mariano Gutierrez.
The strong play of Gutierrez in continuously setting up his front end with pinpoint passes, earned him the Amore MVP award.
For the winners, Clemente Zavaletta scored five times (1 foul), Hugo Barabucci had four, and Palmer converted two foul shots.
Besides his seven penalty conversions, Gutierrez scored once from the field and Mateo Crespo had one.
